 Telephone Deception
Beware of any suspicious calls that might lure you into disclosing your
sensitive information. Stay alert, even if the callers know your name.
Fraudster may pretend to be an Immigration Department officer with pre-recorded voice messages notifying the recipients about application for or collection of their documents.
trips
 Phishing SMS/ email
Remain vigilant for text messages or emails sent from an unknown third party that attempt to trick you into revealing your personal information.
Scammers may identify themselves as online merchants, requiring you to provide your credit card credentials and One-Time Password to activate subscription. They may then register a wallet and conduct multiple fraudulent transactions using the wallet.
Swindlers may also pose as staff from the Post Office or courier companies, then notify you that your parcel delivery has failed and request additional postage for delivery.
You may be notified that your reward points are about to expire and be requested to provide your credit card credentials and One-Time Password to redeem the rewards. Fraudsters may then register a wallet with your banking details or authenticate 3Ds transactions online.
While the holiday season is about all things love and joy, Citi has launched the digital solutions below to ensure you keep safe in the festive season and all year round:

Scam Warnings for FPS
When you send money via FPS, if the recipient's phone number / email address / FPS ID is listed as
High Risk” in Scameter, you will see a scam prevention warning. Please be prudent and think again about whether you should proceed with the transfer.
 Beware of fraudulent links
Always pay close attention to the caller's phone number and the sender's email address, and do not click on any hyperlinks from suspicious email and/or SMS.

To avoid unnecessary loss, remember to validate with your friends whenever you receive any "strange messages" or "abnormal requests".

In all circumstances, Citibank will never ask you to login to your
e-banking with an embedded hyperlink or request that you enter personal information.
Also, please be reminded that Citibank will not request customers to deposit or transfer money to any unknown third parties.
 Stay alert for suspicious software
You should only download and install apps by trusted and verified developers from official Apps stores. Do not download, nor try to login to and operate any suspicious software from unknown sources. You should also evaluate apps' requested permissions carefully before installation, and maintain proper configuration of mobile devices (e.g., to disallow installation of Apps from unknown sources, etc.). If you notice anything unusual, such as abnormal layout or slow login, please stop using it immediately.
 Look out for our notifications
Pay attention to our SMS and email notifications for timely fraud detection. Also, please opt in for in-app push notifications in Citi Mobile® App to get instant and ongoing notifications on your bank status via a secured channel.
 Protect your digital keys
Always keep your wallet and mobile devices secure so as to protect your banking details. Regularly change your password to ensure it is hard to hack but easy to remember, or simply set up Face ID and Touch ID to reduce the risk of your account being stolen even if you lose your phone.

You should never reveal your personal information and banking details (e.g. your login credentials and passwords, ATM Card/Credit Card number, Card Verification Value code, ATM Card/Credit Card expiry date, security token, unlock code, One-Time Password (OTP), ATM Card/Credit Card Personal Identification Number (PIN), account balance, identity card/passport number, ATM card image, banking statement or other sensitive information) to any third party including your friends. Please be aware that our staff will NEVER ask for the above information via phone call, SMS and/or email!

Under any circumstances, always think twice before you disclose your One-Time Password. Never let down your guard, even if the transaction amount is small - it might end up costing you a lot of money should it lead to other, fraudulent transactions.
Keep these security tips in mind to safeguard your
personal and financial information. Stay safe and stay smart!
