Scenario of recent security scams
Suspicious email and SMS
Citibank will never ask you to login to your e-banking with an embedded hyperlink or request you to enter personal information, for example reactivating your credit card or providing your card details via the hyperlink in SMS.
Fraudulent call

The "+" sign is only applicable to overseas calls. If "852" is displayed at the same time, there is a good chance that it is a counterfeit number. The area code even will not be displayed if the fraudsters use SIM cards with "One Card-Two" services.

Fraudsters may impersonate staff from Hong Kong Post, courier services or online shopping platforms to lure you into sharing sensitive personal data or making online transactions by using the excuse that there has been an abnormal transaction or account status.
How to Safeguard Yourself
Think before you read

Always pay close attention to the sender's email address and do not open any suspicious or phishing email and / or SMS.  If you receive an SMS purportedly from Citibank but you have doubts, you can always login in to our Citibank Online to verify the SMS sender number.
Password is key
Regularly change your password to ensure it is hard to hack but easy to remember or set up face ID and touch ID to reduce the risk of your account being stolen even you lose your phone.

You should never reveal your banking details (e.g. your login credentials and passwords, security token, unlock code, one-time password (OTP), ATM Card / Credit Card Personal Identification Number (PIN), account balance, identity card / passport number or other sensitive information) to any third party or unauthorized app. Remember that our staff will not ask for the above information via phone call, sms and email!
Update your apps
Updating your apps regularly gives you access to the latest features and improves app stability and security by plugging every security loophole.

For Android OS users of Citi Mobile® App, the version 12.5 of Citi Mobile® App will no longer support Android OS version 6 and below. We suggest that you upgrade your mobile device to Android OS version 8 or above to continue enjoying Citi Mobile banking experience.
